Szilvia Bolla (Budapest, 1992) is a visual artist based between Budapest and The Hague. Her interdisciplinary practice weaves together photography, sculpture, and installation, exploring the intimate and vulnerable interactions between humans and artifacts. Bolla describes her work as “cryptophotographic,” the result of darkroom experiments with photosensitive crystals that react to chemical substances. Her research is rooted in new materialism and feminist corporeality, evoking narratives of survival and examining the relationship between human beings and technology.
Her work has been exhibited internationally at institutions such as the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, Trafó Gallery in Budapest, the Stefan Gierowski Foundation in Warsaw, and the Unseen Photography Festival in Amsterdam.
